Good morning! We have a new challenge starting today at A Blog Named Hero and it’s a good one!
I used the new Paper Layering Neighborhood die to cut the neighborhood twice. Once out of white glitter paper with both dies and once out of red card stock with just the frame die. I adhered the silver section on top of the cardstock using a combination of liquid adhesive and foam strips. I wanted there to be a bit of dimension, but not in every section. There was no rhyme or reason to this, which sometimes leads to some of my favorite creations.
It’s hard to tell, but you can see a bit of the sparkle and shine from the glitter paper in this photo. You can also see in this photo how the tittle of the j in joy is on the card base while everything else is popped up on various layers.
I used the Stamp & Cut Joy set for the sentiments. I adore these classic Stamp & Cut sets and hope that Hero Arts comes out with more of them. I finished the card with drops of liquid glue and then some Lawn Fawn Prisma glitter. Thought it would look a bit like falling snow. And you know you can’t go wrong with glitter!
I hope you’ll join us on our challenge this month. Sparkle & Shine means we get to use the shimmery stuff, and I know you’ve got some!

Good morning! Today we started a new challenge at A Blog Named Hero and it’s a good one.
We could all use birthday cards, year round, so we want to see what you make! I sure do hope you’ll enter the challenge, there are two prizes each month, sponsored by Hero Arts. The prizes are a $50 gift certificate and a $25 gift certificate to the Hero Arts shop. There’s a new catalog coming soon, so I’m certain your wish list will be growing, and this is a perfect way to get some new goodies!
To help inspire you, I used a “new to me” stencil. I’ve had it a while, but somehow it never got inky. Don’t you worry, I fixed that.
I used Aegean and Green Apple bold inks with a ink blending tool to make this design. I applied the ink heavier in the lower left and just let the ink run out as I got to the top right. After I inked with one color I just removed the stencil, cleaned it off with a damp cloth, and then shifted it over to make the stepped design.
I thought these colors were a bit “retro and mod” so I used the Rounded Rectangle Infinity Dies to cut my card front. Popped that up onto the white card base with some craft foam, and then adhered the simple sentiment banner.
And this is on the inside. I love this Snarky Messages set. It amuses me whenever I even glance at it. Might need to frame it for my craft desk, or put it on an easel. Ha.
Don’t forget to join the challenge at A Blog Named Hero. We love seeing what you create.

Good morning to you! If you’re a regular around here you’ll notice that this is my second post today. The first one was two hours ago and is part of a Hero Arts Blog Hop, so you should definitely check it out. There are prizes to be won!
Today starts our new challenge at A Blog Named Hero and it’s all about Watercolor! I do hope you’ll join us, but please make sure to read our Challenge Rules, so that you are qualified to read one of the two monthly prizes. Now, on to my card.
I started this card with just a vague idea of what I wanted to do, the stars aligned for me, and this was the result. Let me explain how I made it.
The Hero Art Liquid Watercolors are a dream to work with, even for a beginning watercolorist. You can achieve endless shades of the colors by adding water as desired, and they blend beautifully. I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed working with them. My only complaint? They just came out with an eleventh shade and my palette only holds ten colors. Someone needs a bigger palette!
This picture shows the glare from the card front when tilted in the light. When I was finished coloring the panel I added shimmer marker to the entire image, and once that dried I added versamark and clear embossing powder over the card front to create a sort of shellacked finish. I love it! I adhered that to the front of a card base and then I added the die cut word and the embossed sentiment strip.
Thanks for coming by today. I sure do hope you join our challenge, I know you have watercolors and would love to win a prize!

Good morning! Today the Design Team at A Blog Named Hero is very excited to be participating in the Hero Arts 2018 Summer Catalog Blog Hop!
I used the new floral stamp set called You’re Beautiful for my card, along with the Bold Graphic Confetti Die.
I stamped the images on two pieces of white cardstock using my MISTI and then colored them the same way with Copic markers. I adhered one of the colored panels onto a card base. I die cut the other panel with the Confetti die and trimmed it down just a bit. I took off one strip of the die on each of the four sides. After putting a lot of foam strips on the back of the panel, I carefully placed it over the card base, and swooned. I just love how this turned out.
I white embossed one of the sentiments from the same stamp set onto some black cardstock and adhered that to the front of the card. I adore the fonts used in this stamp set.
I love how you get peeks of the florals underneath the die cut panel. I keep tilting it from side to side, ha!
Your next stop on this hop is Meghan Peterson.

Good morning! It’s the 15th of the month, which means we are starting our new challenge at A Blog Named Hero today. It’s a fun one, to get us in the mood for spring.
Use a flower from Hero Arts, and you’re practically qualified to enter the challenge! 🙂 We have our challenge rules listed here, please do make sure to read them so that you’re eligible to win one of the two monthly prizes.
I made a simple, yet elegant card using one stamp and one ink color. Excluding the sentiment strip.
For this card I used the Magnolia stamp and Distress Oxide ink in Seedless Preserves. I stamped that focal image on the card front directly, and then for the other images I stamped off the ink twice before stamping it onto the card front. Who knew that Distress Oxides stamp practically perfectly the second time around? Ha!
While the ink was drying I grabbed a favorite sentiment set from Hero Arts and used the “thinking of you” stamp to emboss on a darker piece of cardstock. I use a piece of scrap paper that has had this die cut from it in order to make sure my sentiment will fit. I can just arrange this over stamps while they are still in the packaging in order to help me choose which sentiment to use. Once that was stamped and embossed, I also use this scrap to help me align the die properly. I place it like you see below in the picture and then I tape the die over it before running it through my die cutting machine. Helps me save paper and re-stamping, ahem.
I sure do hope you’ll join us in this month’s challenge. I have a feeling it’s going to be a very popular one!
