As you may or may not know, I love to read. I was recently offered the opportunity to read a book before it was published in exchange for my honest review, and I LOVED it. So, I then offered to write a blog post about it, hoping that you’ll read and enjoy the book, and maybe find a new author to follow. It’s the first in a four book series, and I am anxiously awaiting book three.
The book is called Getting Hot with the Scot and is written by Melonie Johnson. I’m going to copy what I wrote in my Goodreads review here so that you can see my first impression. I typically write that review within a few hours of finishing a book.
This was a very fun, quick, and light read. Just what I needed after some more serious and creepy thrillers.
I loved the close friendships between the characters, it’s nice to read about genuine love and caring for friends these days. Both the male and female characters had strong friendships and family relations to rely upon, which is a nice change of pace in my books of late.
One of the best parts of this book was the message. Yes, there is love, and friendship, and great backdrops, but also it’s about not shaming people for whatever type of book they like to read. Romance, comic books, sci-fi, mysteries. Reading is reading, and that is all that matters.
Here is the official blurb about this book, written by a professional. 🙂
The first in a new series, a journalist focused on her career and a sexy Scottish comedian turn a one night stand into forever.
Cassie Crow leaves for vacation with two goals: fill up her empty charm bracelet and have a one night stand. For once, she wants to have fun instead of obsessively checking her work email. And kissing a man in a castle who’s dressed as a Scottish Highlander is the perfect solution.
Except when that man turns out to be Logan Reid, the host of a popular sketch show—and Cassie has just been roped into his latest prank. She wants nothing to do with his antics, but that was a really great kiss, and one night together couldn’t hurt.
It’s clear that one night isn’t enough and when Logan’s show brings him closer to Cassie, they decide to give dating a try. Can the woman who’s focused solely on her career and the man who refuses to take life seriously make it work?
I am so thankful to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for giving me this opportunity to read an advance copy. It’s a really fun thing to do as a reader, I get to tell people about a book before it comes out, as if I’m on the inside, which makes me laugh.
As a thank you to my blog readers, St. Martin’s Press is offering a copy of this book to one winner. Winner must be a resident of the United States. To enter, just leave a comment here telling me the last great book you read. I’m always looking to add to my “to be read” pile and look forward to your comments.
Comments close in one week, I will announce the winner here on May 8, 2019.
