Concord & 9th Turns Two: Happy Balloons

It’s time for another Feature Friday at Concord & 9th and we at Where Creativity Meets C9 are so honored to be participating this whole month. This week we are highlighting the new Happy Balloons stamp and Happy Balloons dies sets. And let me just tell you, these are kind of must have sets if you’re a balloon fan. I’m not much of a balloon fan, and as a matter of fact, only had one other balloon type thing in my craft stash, and I’m afraid that these sets might have created a monster. I now love balloons, and am afraid that every card occasion will now demand them. What can I say? They make me happy. We all need more happy in our lives!

Here’s how I made this card:

  • Blend six different colors of distress ink onto Bristol cardstock that has been cut into 2″ strips.
  • Die cut three balloons from each color of cardstock.
  • Adhere some of the balloons directly to the card base.
  • Pop of the other balloons using foam tape.
  • Trim the pieces that hang over the edges.
  • Use a shimmer pen on all of the balloons. There is some sort of reaction with the combination of shimmer pen, distress ink, and bristol cardstock that gives the finish a mottled appearance. Works perfectly for this card.
  • Die cut the “sweet” from the Orange You Sweet dies five times from black cardstock. Adhere those together and then adhere to the front of your card.
  • Stamp your sentiment onto a banner cut from white cardstock. Adhere that on your card front.
  • Swipe your shimmer pen over the sentiment and die cut, if you like. More shimmer = better, ha.
  • Add some sequins or enamel dots, whichever you happen to have laying on your desk. That’s my methodology with embellishments. Shhh, don’t tell anyone my secret!

This is a close up to see that mottling that occurs, and also the dimension you get with popping up the second layer with foam tape.

Don’t forget to join us in our challenge this month at Where Creativity Meets C9. It’s Anything Goes, so I know you can qualify!
