Hello Sweet Baby – Concord & 9th Feature Friday

Good morning, and a happy Friday the 13th to you! It’s definitely happy here in my part of the blogosphere because I am lucky enough to have been asked to play along with Concord & 9th for their Feature Friday blog posts!

Today we are highlighting the awesome new stamp and die set called Laurel Frames. It’s gorgeous, and while I love the images, obviously, the sentiments are fantastic! I love the fonts, the words used, every single thing about them. Which is why I chose to use them for today’s card.

I needed to make a card for a family friend who just had a baby. I crocheted a blanket for the new arrival, and I was told to use pink and grey, and to make it girly, since the new momma is a girly girl. Okay! I can do that. For the accompanying card, I thought the best thing would be glitter! Which was a perfect time to open up the Summer Glitter Pack. I was thrilled that there was a pink in it that went perfectly with the blanket that I made. Love when that happens.

To make this card, I did the following:

  • Die cut about a dozen “hello”s from the Laurel Frames die set. I absolutely love this font, and love that it’s lowercase. It’s more casual, in my mind, that way, and I think that is perfect to welcome a new baby to the world. TIP: Take my advice, apply some double sided adhesive sheets to the glitter paper before you die cut. Did I do that? Absolutely not. Do I wish I had? You bet I do! 😉
  • Score but do not fold your piece of cardstock. I used a grey color, to match the blanket, of course. Tape that down to your work surface with tape covering above the fold. That was so I could apply the die cuts without them getting stuck to the back of the card.
  • Apply your die cuts however you like. I trie to make my balanced, but don’t look too closely, okay?
  • Die cut cardstock for your sentiment with the perfectly sized banner die included in the Laurel Frames die set. I always cut more than I need in case of embossing errors, and the extras I just stash with the stamp and die set.
  • Emboss your sentiment on the banner and pop that up on the card front with foam adhesive.
  • Scatter some sequins on your card.
  • Step back and admire your creation.

I love how this turned out, and it was a bit easier to create since I had a use and color scheme in mind from the start.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I’ll be back next week to show you some more goodies with this month’s release.
