Inspiration Strikes

This might be something that most people already do, I don’t know. Today I realized that we need a recycle bin in the bathroom vanity area.

The most common reason is magazines. Come on, we all know we have them in the bathroom. Well, when you’re finally finished with it, it shouldn’t go out with the rest of the trash.

You may be using something else in your daily bathroom life that comes wrapped in plastic or paper that can be recycled. No use lumping it in with your used q-tips! Recycle what can be recycled!

Also, save the containers. Used shampoo bottles can be rinsed out and used for something. Depending upon the shape of the container, you can use it to store craft supplies, nails/screws in the garage, etc.

If you use anything from MAC Cosmetics or Origins, or Kiehl’s, I know they all have recycling programs. I’m sure that other companies do as well.

I read Laurie David’s book Stop Global Warming: The Solution is You – An Activists Guide. One of the things that she talks about is using toilet paper that is made out of recycled materials. That we shouldn’t use virgin paper materials in toilet paper. That makes so much sense. It does, it really does. In my heart. Not my bum. I’m very picky about my toilet paper. I like the soft, cushy, comfortable, soothing toilet paper. As a matter of fact, when I am somewhere with hard, abrasive, uncomfortable, irritating toilet paper, I usually comment on how ‘not-nice’ it is.

Well, on my next trip to Whole Foods I am going to buy the recycled stuff. I’m going to give it a try. It’s important. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Every little bit helps, I have to believe that.

Oh, and does someone have an idea of what we can do with the rolls from the inside of the toilet paper? Every time I put one in the recycle bin I wonder if there is a creative person out there doing something really cool!
