Layers of Love

Happy Tuesday to you! I feel like it’s still early enough in the new year for me to wish you a happy and healthy New Year!

This month’s challenge at Where Creativity Meets C9 is to “Use your first C9 set”, and for me, that’s Layers of Love. I remember seeing this set out in the wild and thinking “that will come to live with me, now.” I adore the words chosen for the set, and the simple font. I use it quite frequently, and was thrilled that I “had” to use it for this month’s challenge.

This is actually quite an easy card, and if I had had more time, I would have made about a dozen of these. I will definitely do this again. I placed the stamps on my MISTI in the same order that they are on the index sheet of the stamp set. To make this easy, I just took the index sheet off, placed it in my MISTI, and placed the stamps on top of the sheet for perfect placement.

I used some washi tape to cover up whichever sentiment I was using. Next I inked the stamps up with versafine, removed the washi tape, and stamped onto some white cardstock. I clear embossed all of the sentiments. Wiped off the stamps with my stamp shammy, and repeated this onto another piece of white cardstock, changing the words that I covered up with washi tape.

Once I stamped my card fronts, I removed all of the stamps that were not part of my spotlighted sentiments. In my case, that meant the “I” “LOVE” “YOU” and “HELLO”. Since they were far enough apart on the MISTI, the next part was easy.

Take the distress oxide ink of choice, and ink up the sentiment. I used Candied Apple for the I LOVE YOU, and stamped that into the black space. Cleaned off the stamps, removed them, and then used Seedless Preserves on the HELLO.

After that, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut these out, and some craft foam to add to another stitched rectangle, which was adhered directly to the card base. I couldn’t find a cardstock in my stash for the Seedless Preserves, so I just used the ink and made my own.

I hope you’ll join us for this month’s challenge. It’s certainly a fun one. Dig out your oldest set and join in, you could win a gift certificate to Concord & 9th or a Guest Designer gig on Where Creativity Meets C9!
