One of my favorite crafty blogs, The Scrap Review, is hosting a challenge today, involving the use of junk mail. Well, I’m happy to say that I can not participate.
We don’t get any junk mail. We signed up a few years ago for something called Green Dimes. It is now called MailStopper.
You pay a small fee and then you tell them what catalogs you want to STOP receiving. They handle the rest for you. One of the pleasant side effects of this is that you spend less money. And covet less catalog items. You don’t know what’s out there, so there’s no need to add it to your “must have” list.
Some other things that we do on a regular basis:
- Bring reusable shopping bags with us to the store. This includes grocery store, Target, etc. And, if we forget the bags, we just bring our stuff out in the shopping cart and “bag” the items in the car.
- Refillable water bottles. Fill them with filtered water and put them in the fridge. Bottled water! No bottles. :O)
- Save boxes and large envelopes from packages received in the mail. Reuse them for anything we ship out.
Happy Earth Day everyone. Take care of her, she’s the only one we have.
