Good morning to you! I am here with a set of cards that I made for a little birthday gift for my mother. Don’t worry, she doesn’t read the blog. 🙂
Since it’s also April 9th, you know what that means! It’s a new challenge at Where Creativity Meets C9 and a new release from Concord & 9th. You should click there and go shop right now. This is a VERY good release. My wallet has been warned.
The challenge this month is Spring! And I thought that a little set of flat cards would be perfect. My Mom spends the winters in Florida, you know, as per nature, and I know she can use these cards for friends. She’s always telling me that she bought a card at the store, and I cringe at this, each and every time. Ha.
For these cards I used a few sets from Concord & 9th, one for the florals, one for a leaf, and then another for the sentiments. I love that it’s so easy to combine sets as you need them, and it gets more use out of them. Win win in my book.
These were very easy to make; here is what I did:
- Stamped the floral image in a pale distress ink using my MISTI so I could easily make multiples. I also made a mask of this stamp so I could stamp the foliage.
- Masked the flower and then stamped the foliage in two different colors of distress ink.
- Using a small stamp block I stamped the “berries” in the second generation of Evergreen Bough distress ink. That means that I stamped it off once before stamping onto the cardstock.
- Die cut the panels using the Hero Arts rounded rectangle infinity dies.
- Using copic markers I colored in the images. Just two markers per image, and nothing fancy. I was going for a sort of organic coloring. Just simple color application, and wasn’t going for perfection.
- Added some Sparkle marker over the berries.
- Stamped the sentiments in Distress Oxide ink and used clear embossing powder over that.
- Lastly, I made some envelopes that coordinated with some old patterned paper and my We Are Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board. I love that tool and sometimes when I want to be crafty, but am not feeling “it”, I just make envelopes. Try it, very relaxing.
I hope you’ll join us for this month’s challenge. It’s a fun one. I know that lots of people live somewhere where they are READY for spring already, so maybe if you join this challenge, Mother Nature will know you’re serious. Plus, there are prizes up for grabs!
