Thinking of You

Good morning! It’s the 15th of the month, which means we are starting our new challenge at A Blog Named Hero today. It’s a fun one, to get us in the mood for spring.

Use a flower from Hero Arts, and you’re practically qualified to enter the challenge! 🙂 We have our challenge rules listed here, please do make sure to read them so that you’re eligible to win one of the two monthly prizes.

I made a simple, yet elegant card using one stamp and one ink color. Excluding the sentiment strip.

For this card I used the Magnolia stamp and Distress Oxide ink in Seedless Preserves. I stamped that focal image on the card front directly, and then for the other images I stamped off the ink twice before stamping it onto the card front. Who knew that Distress Oxides stamp practically perfectly the second time around? Ha!

While the ink was drying I grabbed a favorite sentiment set from Hero Arts and used the “thinking of you” stamp to emboss on a darker piece of cardstock. I use a piece of scrap paper that has had this die cut from it in order to make sure my sentiment will fit. I can just arrange this over stamps while they are still in the packaging in order to help me choose which sentiment to use. Once that was stamped and embossed, I also use this scrap to help me align the die properly. I place it like you see below in the picture and then I tape the die over it before running it through my die cutting machine. Helps me save paper and re-stamping, ahem.

I sure do hope you’ll join us in this month’s challenge. I have a feeling it’s going to be a very popular one!

This is such a stunning card! I keep trying to tell myself I don’t *need* to get the Oxides… but the look on dark cardstock is so fantastic!

Thank you. I try not to be an enabler, but sorry, you must have them all. They’re perfection. And, Simon Says Stamp has the latest ones at a great price today, in their “steals and deals” page. Let me find a link… http://shrsl.com/wlq9
