Concord & 9th Turns Two: Here’s The Scoop

Welcome to another Feature Friday at Concord & 9th! This week we are showcasing the Here’s the Scoop Stamp and Die sets. They are fantastic, and made me actually buy some ice cream this week. In case you’re curious, Talenti Peanut Butter Fudge Sorbetto. It’s vegan, and shockingly amazing, as long as you like peanut butter. 🙂

This was a pretty easy card to make, and I got to play with lots of “new to me” supplies.

  • I stamped the sundae image in versafine ink and clear embossed it.
  • Colored with Tombow markers. Once that was dry, I went over it with a versamarker pen and sprinkled on some Ranger Sticky embossing powder. Do you know this stuff? When you melt it, it’s sticky, and holds whatever you put on top of it. Like, glitter! Which is what I put on top of these scoops.
  • Using Tombow markers, I colored the stripes of the bowl.
  • Stamped and die cut the sentiment, then colored it a pale pink.
  • Added glossy accents to the cherry and the sentiment.
  • For the background I opened a bottle of Twisted Citron distress stain, and used it to apply a wash of color to a piece of watercolor paper. Added some water droplets to that, for some interest.
  • Used a frame die to cut the background, again, just for some added interest, and added that to a card base.
  • Adhered the ice cream sundae with some foam tape to the card front, and a few sequins for some more sparkle.

Here’s a close up, showing that lovely glitter shimmer and the gloss of the sentiment strip. Note that there was some sort of reaction with the Tombow marker and the glossy accents, so the color faded. The nerd in me appreciates the reaction. Even though I wanted that to be brighter. Ha.

Please join us for this month’s challenge at Where Creativity Meets C9. It’s Anything Goes, so everyone can join! No special requirements. We have a gift certificate to Concord & 9th up for grabs, plus a guest designer spot!
